EFRA Committee holds evidence session at Harper Adams University
The EFRA Committee has taken its inquiry into education and careers in land-based sectors on the road, and will today be holding an evidence session at 9.30am at Harper Adams University, in Shropshire.
Meeting details
The morning’s evidence session will give MPs the opportunity to question sector experts on potential career pathways into the industry and the take-up of land-based courses. The session will also discuss public awareness of careers in the sector and what more could be done to promote them.
The Committee will examine the labour needs of the industry, and ask how far these are being met, whether the sector is facing a skills-gap, and whether the future of the sector’s workforce is viable.
As part of their visit to Harper Adams, Committee members have toured the specialist agricultural university’s facilities, including its agri-tech research centre, on-site farm, and vet school, and will later be meeting with students and staff, to inform their inquiry.
