Champions of female representation in financial services to give evidence on Sexism in the City
The Treasury Committee questions two influential women championing better female representation in finance and business on their perspectives regarding sexism and misogyny in the City.
Meeting details
In the first two sessions of the Sexism in the City inquiry, MPs questioned representatives from advocacy groups and industry bodies in order to get their views on whether representation and culture in the financial services sector has improved since 2018.
In the third session, MPs question Aviva CEO and Women in Finance Charter Champion, Amanda Blanc, and Nishma Gosrani, of Bain and Co., who both worked on the Women in Finance Charter Blueprint.
This gives the Committee an opportunity to examine the impact of the Charter from those who are championing it and pushing for change. MPs may choose to question witnesses on whether they believe there has been sufficient progress in meeting the goals which the Charter aims to deliver, and what more needs to be done to improve diversity and inclusion more broadly.
MPs are likely to look closely at evidence received in the inquiry so far which indicates many of the issues identified in the Treasury Committee’s 2018 report are still prevalent today.
The Committee may also decide to probe on gender pay gaps, including the extent to which compulsory reporting has resulted in industry change, and what more needs to be done to make faster progress at reducing pay gaps.
