Organisers of Israel/Gaza protests questioned on public order and policing
The Home Affairs Committee examines the policing of recent public protests in an evidence session on Wednesday 6 December. This is the first of two sessions examining the policing response to protests relating to ongoing events in Israel/Palestine.

In reaction to the outbreak of conflict in Israel and Gaza, nationwide demonstrations have been held across the Uk, with the largest demonstrations being held in London. The Committee will question three of the main organisers of these demonstrations, including the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition and Muslim Association of Britain, who have been calling for a cease-fire. The Committee will question them about how the protests were organised, how they worked with police and aimed to maintain public order and whether calls for new legislation are fair and proportionate.
The session examines concerns that there has been a growth in hate crime since the conflict and demonstrations began. It investigates whether enough is being done to prevent hate crime incidents and whether new legislation is needed in order to deal with some of the issues arising from these protests.
