MPs to hear evidence on challenges facing pharmacy sector

MPs will hear from the leaders of hospital, community and general practice pharmacists in the first evidence session of the inquiry to consider challenges facing the pharmacy sector.

Funding shortfalls for community pharmacies, the impact on services and patients, proposed changes to reduce dispensing activity as well as medication supply issues are expected to be examined. The committee will also focus on specific challenges facing general practice and hospital pharmacists, such as support needed for virtual wards. The use of automation and technology in transforming hospital pharmacy services is also on the agenda.
