The Committee is looking at large language models and what needs to happen over the next 1–3 years to ensure the UK can respond to their opportunities and risks.

Possible areas for discussion

Possible areas for discussion with witnesses include:

  • how the next generation of large language models will develop and on what timescale;
  • the differences in capability between open and closed models;
  • whether there should be new regulation for frontier AI and what form that should take;
  • how developers and users of large language models respond to concerns about copyright infringement.
