Possible questions
- The warranty, insurance and lending industries have told us that more data on MMC performance and longevity would be useful to assess the risks of MMC. Does the lack of long-term data actually prevent you from approving a greater number of warranties, insurance and mortgages?
- The UK’s system is based on performance and outcomes, and we have heard that MMC can be, and is, successfully assessed under the current regime. What would building regulations specific to MMC allow you to do which you cannot do now?
- Would the standardisation of some categories of MMC facilitate greater approvals of warranties, insurance and mortgages of MMC homes and if so, why?
- Considering the importance of being able to resell homes, is the lifespan of 60 years (certified by BOPAS) long enough for lenders to be confident in providing mortgages to MMC homes?
- Traditionally built homes are widely reported as regularly having defects and poor workmanship. Why do you feel so confident in granting warranties, insurance and mortgages for new traditionally built homes in these circumstances?
- Does it take more time and resources for you to conduct the necessary assessment and due diligence for MMC-delivered homes compared to traditionally built homes?
