Science, Innovation and Technology Committee hears first evidence in new inquiry into commercialising quantum technologies in the UK

The Government has set out its 10-year vision for the UK to be a “leading quantum-enabled economy”. But how close are we to bringing quantum technologies to market, and will the UK be leading the way?

Meeting details

At 9:30am: Oral evidence

Emeritus Professor at Imperial College London, and Chair Quantum Metrology Institute at National Physical Laboratory
Aegis Professor at University of Bristol, and Director at National Quantum Computing Centre
At 10:50am: Oral evidence

And is Government support so far - in the National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP) - working to ensure that these technological advances can be turned into commercial products, that benefit the UK’s society and economy?

SITC will question leading academics on the quantum technologies’ ecosystem in the UK and potential applications of the new technology. Questioning will explore the state of the UK’s national infrastructure and standing internationally and national efforts in quantum training and skill development for the future workforce.
