MPs to hold public hearing on sexism and challenges faced by female athletes
The Women and Equalities Committee question sports’ governing bodies as part of its work on sexism and inequality in sport, in an public evidence session.
Tennis, hockey and netball governing bodies face questions on whether there is enough female representation in coaching and leadership positions in sport.

The cross-party committee of MPs focus on issues arising from women’s health and physiology including:
- the impact of the menstrual cycle on sporting performance
- supporting women to participate in sport at different life stages
- period anxiety and the suitability of kit available to women and girls.
In July Chair Caroline Nokes MP wrote to football boot brands - Adidas, Nike, Umbro and Puma - about the lack of boots designed specifically for women and girls. This followed evidence to the Committee on the disproportionate impact of sports injuries among women and girls, and in particular anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injuries in football.
