Preparing for the winter: Energy Security and Net Zero Committee to question consumer support organisations and energy companies
In the first meeting after the summer recess, the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee questions consumer support organisations and energy companies as part of its inquiry into preparing for the winter.
The session is the first in the inquiry examining the lessons that can be learnt from the high energy prices of last winter and how Ofgem, the Government and energy companies can best support people over the coming months.
Meeting details
MPs explore with the first panel the challenges consumers faced last winter in paying their energy bills, with witnesses likely to be asked about the quality of customer service provided by energy companies and how the situation might develop this winter.
The second panel, featuring representatives from the energy companies, are set to be asked about support for customers, how they intend to balance their obligations to shareholders and billpayers, and where they see their responsibilities in conjunction with the Government and Ofgem.
