Treasury Committee to investigate regional imbalances in wide-ranging session
The Treasury Committee will examine regional imbalances in a wide-ranging session with academics and economic experts at 10.15am on Tuesday 4 July.
Likely areas of questioning
The cross-party Committee will investigate the nature of regional inequality and its repercussions in the UK, the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on regional imbalances and whether remote working can reduce them.
MPs are also likely to look at the links between regional imbalances and social mobility and whether English devolution could play a role in reducing regional inequalities.
The impact of the transition to net zero, the role housing plays in these regional imbalances, and the efficacy of the Government’s Levelling Up strategy are also likely to be discussed.
