MPs are expected to probe the provision of assisted dying/assisted suicide assistance by Dignitas to UK citizens who travel to Switzerland and the criteria required. The evidence session presents a rare opportunity for questions to be put directly to Dignitas. EXIT limits its services to Swiss citizens or permanent residents. The Committee is likely to examine costs of services, checks involved in the procedures and the availability of palliative/end of life care in Switzerland. With a separate panel of academics and representative of the Swiss Medical Association, the Committee will consider the Swiss legal framework for assisted dying/assisted suicide, the operation of membership organisations such as Dignitas and EXIT, and the monitoring of AD/AS, including safeguards for vulnerable people.
