Background

The session forms part a short inquiry by the Committee looking in detail at the Bill and whether it is likely to meet the Government’s objectives to improve consumer protection, regulate digital markets, and strengthen competition enforcement powers.

Possible questions

Possible lines of questioning to the witness panel include:

  • How important is the judicial review appeal to the functioning of the regime?
  • Should the leveraging principle be retained in its current form, or should it be changed?
  • Does the countervailing benefits exemption as currently drafted support the objectives of the Bill? If not, how should it be changed?
