The Treasury Committee will hold a pre-commencement hearing scrutinising the appointment of Megan Greene to the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) at 10.15am on Tuesday 13 June.
The Chancellor announced Megan Greene’s appointment as an external member of the MPC in April, with a three-year term beginning in July.

The MPC makes decisions about the operation of monetary policy. Its membership includes the Governor of the Bank of England, three Deputy Governors, one member of the Bank with responsibility for monetary policy, and four external members.
During the hearing, MPs will assess whether Megan Greene has the required personal independence and appropriate professional competence for the role.
