Public Services Committee examines governance and accountability in the delivery of homecare medicines services

On Wednesday 28 June, the Public Services Committee will hear from NHS England representatives, including the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, and the National Homecare Medicines Committee in an evidence session that will focus on governance and procurement procedures and accountability of service providers across the delivery of homecare medicine services.

This is the third evidence session for this inquiry, which has also looked at the experiences of patients and heard the views of regulators and professional groups.

  • What are the roles of NHS England; and the National Homecare Medicines Committee; as related to homecare medicines services. What is the relationship between your organisations?
  • How do you monitor the standards of homecare services? How can other interested parties do so?
  • Who is responsible for holding providers to account for the standards of the services provided to patients? What powers do you have, respectively, for doing so?
  • How are services procured? How much central coordination is there?
