MPs to assess opportunities to transform future cancer outcomes
The inquiry’s first evidence session will hear from key organisations with expertise in cancer about opportunities to transform diagnosis and treatment for patients in future.

MPs are expected to focus on innovations and technology that are capable of improving cancer outcomes to identify how the Government and NHS England should set priorities on cancer care.
Steps to increase the uptake of cancer screening, improve cancer diagnosis, particularly how to meet targets on earlier diagnosis, and plan a workforce that keeps pace with innovations are among areas likely to be considered.
How to ensure that innovations address rather than exacerbate health inequalities and disparities is also on the agenda.
This inquiry builds on the Committee’s earlier work and report on Cancer services (published April 2022). An evaluation by its independent Expert Panel on Government commitments relating to cancer found overall progress to be “inadequate” (see report, page 11, for ratings).
