Stock market listings
Following the recent decision by ARM and other firms to shun the UK market and list in the US, raising concerns over the health and attractiveness of UK capital markets, the Treasury Committee will examine the UK’s prospects as a global listing venue at 2.15pm on Wednesday 26 April.
Meeting details
The cross-party Committee is likely to explore what lessons regulators, the Government and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) can learn from ARM not listing in the UK, and the role of the LSE in promoting firms to list.
MPs may use the session to discuss the international competitiveness of the UK, whether it’s concerning when British firms choose to list overseas, and new sources of growth and investment.
The regulatory landscape will also be considered, including the impact of the Government’s ‘Edinburgh reforms’ on the UK listing environment, as well as an assessment of regulation introduced by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
