MPs to question Defence Minister and MoD officials on defence in the North Atlantic and High North
The Scottish Affairs Committee questions Armed Forces Minister James Heappey and key Ministry of Defence officials on Scotland’s role in the defence of the north Atlantic.
The cross-party Committee of MPs explores geopolitical developments in the north Atlantic and ‘High North’ following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, climate change and increasing economic activity in the Arctic. The Committee is considering how defence assets based in Scotland contribute to defence and security in the region.
Meeting details
The MPs are also likely to examine China’s strategic goals in the area, UK Government defence policy, and the UK’s naval, air, drone and space-based capability in the region.
