MPs to kick off hearings on preparedness for next pandemic
As the UK Covid-19 inquiry takes evidence on resilience and preparedness for covid-19, the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee will kick off the hearings for its inquiry examining what could become the next pandemic and the Government’s preparedness.
The first session of the emerging diseases and learnings from covid-19 inquiry will hear views from distinguished scientists in the fields of epidemiology, immunology and veterinary science. The first panel will focus on the causes and drivers of new diseases. The second panel will examine the latest data and surveillance systems on human and animal diseases in the UK and globally.
The third panel will explore the ‘One Health’ approach, which recognises that the health of humans, animals, plants and the wider environment are interdependent, and mobilized multiple sectors to work together to tackle threats.
