“A more contested and insecure world” – MPs to hear evidence on Integrated Review Refresh
The Defence Committee holds evidence session examining the implications for defence of the Integrated Review Refresh, published on 13 March.
Meeting details
Experts from King’s College London and the Royal United Services Institute answers MPs’ questions on the conclusions drawn and decisions taken in the refresh. Following a July 2022 recommendation by the Committee that the Integrated Review be updated, as a result of events in both Afghanistan and Ukraine, the Committee will explore whether the new strategy comes with sufficient resources to tackle national security priorities like the threats posed by Russia and China, and how the strategy might be received by the UK’s allies and partners.
In addition, the Committee may consider the Ministry of Defence’s upcoming Defence Command Paper, assessing the likely priorities and capability decisions as well as asking whether the UK’s strategy on land capabilities should be revised in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
