The Communications and Digital Committee takes evidence from witnesses from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as Estonia and Iceland as it continues its inquiry into digital exclusion and the cost of living.

The Committee is looking at the impact of digital exclusion on individuals and more broadly how digital exclusion impacts on economic growth.

  1. Please could you give us an overview of the extent and nature of digital exclusion across the UK, and what are the greatest barriers to digital inclusion?
  2. Could you explain some of the main programmes underway to tackle digital exclusion, and what their impact has been?

Possible lines of questioning to the second panel include:

  1. How does the UK compare internationally in terms of levels of digital exclusion?
  2. In Estonia and Iceland, what were the motivating forces behind digital transformation programmes?
  3. How have Estonia and Iceland managed the difficulty of moving services online when some people do not have the ability or willingness to be online or develop digital skills?
