The effects of artificial light and noise on human health
The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will hold the first evidence session of its new inquiry: The effects of artificial light and noise on human health.
The Committee will hear from Professor Charlotte Clark, Professor of Epidemiology at St. George’s, University London, Dr Antonio Torija Martínez, Reader in Acoustic Engineering at the University of Salford and Professor Anna Hansell, Professor of Environmental Epidemiology and Director of the Centre for Environmental Health and Sustainability, University of Leicester.
The session will focus on the sources of environmental noise, potential changes to those sources and the scientific evidence base for the relationship between noise and human health effects, including the possible mechanisms mediating such effects. The committee will explore how robust this evidence is and what further research is needed.
