Prepayment meters and business support to be raised in latest Committee session
MPs on the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee questions regulator Ofgem, and representatives of business and civic groups, to examine the impacts of continuing high energy prices.
Meeting details
The Committee will ask about the treatment of households and businesses by suppliers and reports of a jump in the number of homes forced onto more expensive prepayment meters.
Regulator Ofgem’s boss Jonathan Brearley, and a witness at the session, has announced a review on the matter.
The follow-up session, after the Committee published its report on energy pricing in the summer, will look at the expected effect of recently announced energy support cuts on consumers and businesses.
