MPs scrutinise new appointment to Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee
The Treasury Committee is holding a pre-commencement hearing scrutinising the appointment of Randall Kroszner to the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee (FPC).
Meeting details
The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced Dr Kroszner’s appointment as an external member of the FPC on 21 December 2022, with a three-year term beginning in February 2023.
The FPC works to protect and enhance the stability of the UK financial system, with a secondary objective to support Government economic policy in areas such as growth and employment.
During the hearing, MPs will assess whether Dr Kroszner has the required personal independence and appropriate professional competence for the role.
The Committee will produce a short report on the appointment following the session.
