Possible questions for the National Infrastructure Commission include:

  • What is the National Infrastructure Commission’s understanding of its remit?
  • How does the National Infrastructure Commission coordinate with the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, the Infrastructure Bank, the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury?
  • To what extent does the National Infrastructure Commission’s fiscal remit of making recommendations for infrastructure consistent with gross public investment in economic infrastructure of 1.1–1.3% of GDP per year pose a constraint, or is it useful in encouraging the prioritisation of projects?

Possible questions for the Institution of Civil Engineers include:

  • What is the Institution of Civil Engineers’ view on how the Government makes infrastructure investment decisions?
  • To what extent is the Institution of Civil Engineers satisfied with HM Treasury’s evaluation of infrastructure projects? Is prioritisation sufficiently reflected in HM Treasury’s decision-making criteria?
  • What changes in the decision-making process are needed to make it cheaper to build large-scale infrastructure in the UK?
