Committee hears from senior officials on work of the Treasury

The Treasury Committee hear from senior Treasury officials, including new Permanent Secretary James Bowler, as it scrutinises the work of the Treasury.

In a wide-ranging session, MPs are likely to explore the impact on the Treasury of recent market turmoil and changes in senior leadership.

The Committee may also follow up on several of the measures announced as part of the Autumn Statement, including the outlook for departmental spending, the future of energy support schemes and the impact of the new ‘windfall’ taxes on energy companies.

Other likely topics for discussion include the elevated UK debt interest costs, developments in financial regulation, and Covid procurement and fraud.
