Lords Committee to explore challenges to implementing the Care Act 2014
On Monday, 20 June, the Adult Social Care Committee has its sixteenth and seventeenth public evidence sessions with local authorities, charities and academics. These evidence sessions will be an opportunity for the Committee to explore the challenges and solutions to  implementing the Care Act 2014, as well as the provision of adult social care services in rural areas.

- The extent to which larger financial resources are the only key to unlocking the potential of the Care Act 2014, and whether there are other potential avenues for change, such as better organisational systems and stakeholder communication.
- The accountability of local authorities and social care providers for their legal duties under the Care Act 2014.
- The key challenges to delivering adult social care services in rural settings, both for individuals with care needs and for unpaid carers.
- The potential role of existing and future Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) when it comes to designing and delivering adult social care in rural environments.
- The problematic nature of traditional design and delivery of social care services in a rural area, such as Shropshire.
