Lords Committee hears from BBC executives on the future of the licence fee
The Communications and Digital Committee holds the penultimate evidence session of its inquiry into BBC future funding. The Committee hears from the BBC Director-General, Chairman, and the Director of Policy. This comes as the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport confirmed that the Government will announce a review of the licence fee before the parliamentary summer recess.
Possible topics and areas for discussion with witnesses include:
- How will the BBC remain relevant over the next 10-15 years?
- Which principles should underpin the decision about the BBC’s funding model?
- What alternative funding options should be considered?
- Should the BBC should be more proactive in publicly shaping the future funding model debate?
