Treasury Committee examines impact of Russian energy sanctions and effect on cost of living

The Treasury Committee will investigate the implications of energy sanctions and the impact on the cost of living at 3.15pm on Monday 14 March.

Likely areas of questioning

In the second session of the Russia: effective economic sanctions inquiry, the Committee will explore the implications of oil and gas sanctions on Britain and Europe. MPs will quiz experts on the effects of energy sanctions on the UK, and how European countries can move away from a reliance on Russian gas.

The Committee will also investigate what impact sanctions will have on the cost of living in the UK. Economists and industry representatives will discuss the economic implications for households and businesses, and what support measures the Government could provide.
