Committee publishes report on ‘In Development’ inquiry

20 March 2025

Report publication: The ‘In Development’ process

The International Development Committee has published a report on its In Development inquiry, a call for inquiry ideas from the aid and development sector.

In November 2024, the Committee invited the public to suggest potential future inquiries through an initiative called ‘In Development’. This was designed to offer an opportunity for the international development community and the public to bring topics deserving greater parliamentary scrutiny to the attention of the Committee.

The Committee received 134 submissions, 113 of which have been published on its website. Topics ranged from the meaning of locally led development to understanding public opinion on overseas aid. One submission inspired the Committee’s recently launched inquiry into the Women, Peace and Security agenda, which is taking evidence until 22 April 2025. The Committee is confident that this initiative will shape its future work programme throughout this Parliament.
