Humanitarian situation in Ethiopia’s Tigray region examined

The International Development Committee will hold a one-off evidence session on the humanitarian situation in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.

Purpose of the session

The humanitarian situation in Ethiopia is worsening: on top of conflict in the Tigray region, locust swarms are ravaging farmers’ fields and covid-19 is having a significant impact on health services. Access is restricted to the region for aid workers.  

During this one-off evidence session, the Committee will explore the situation on the ground from those in-country and the logistical experiences the aid sector is facing, and from the Government on the UK’s response to the crisis.
