Committee outlines key recommendations that must be taken into account to preserve watchdog’s independence

24 November 2020

The International Development Committee (IDC) has today published a letter to Baroness Sugg, the Minister responsible for conducting the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) review of the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI).

Within the letter, Chair of the Committee Sarah Champion expresses concern with the speed at which the review is taking place. Ms Champion outlines a number of recommendations from the IDC to the FCDO to consider as part of the review, including the need for ICAI to be fully independent, and the necessity for ICAI and an independent Select Committee to scrutinise Government aid spend.
