International Development Committee takes evidence from the Minister of State for International Development about the UK government response to the Syrian refugee crisis.

Purpose of session

The Committee is considering the Government's response to the Syria crisis, with particular focus on:

  • the role of jobs and livelihoods in helping Syrian refugees support themselves
  • how DFID assistance is directed to the most vulnerable
  • how vulnerability criteria will be used to select refugees for resettlement
  • plans for their integration once they arrive in the UK
  • how Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) is to be used to support refugees, both in the Middle East and in the UK
