Purpose of the Session
In the second oral evidence session of its inquiry into ‘UK progress on the Sustainable Development Goals' (SDGs), the International Development Committee will hear from Penny Mordaunt, Secretary of State for International Development and Lord Bates, Minister of State for International Development.
The session will explore whether the Government has shown appropriate leadership on the SDGs since their adoption in 2015. It will look at how well DFID, and other Government departments, have managed the process around the UK's Voluntary National Review (VNR), which will be presented at the UN in July. It will also investigate how the Government plans to take forward, and improve, cross-government implementation of the Goals.
