This session, taking place on Wednesday 12 June, follows the revelations aired on Wednesday 22 May by BBC Panorama of conditions in Whortlon Hall in County Durham, and forms part of the Committee's inquiry into conditions in learning disability inpatient units.
False reassurance serves only to perpetuate abuse & shield abusers
In a statement on Twitter, Chair of the Committee Harriet Harman MP said:
“A regulator who certifies as “good” an institution which is abusing vulnerable people is worse than no regulator. @CareQualityComm‘s false reassurance serves only to perpetuate abuse & shield abusers”
