Enforcing Human Rights: provision of legal aid and assistance

The Joint Committee on Human Rights continues its inquiry by examining the impact of legal aid reforms across the UK on access to justice; and the question of whether hostile attitudes to human rights in the media can impede their enforcement.

Aims of the session:

  • To assess the effectiveness of the Human Rights Commissions
  • To look at the ways in which rights can be protected without recourse to court
  • To discuss the provision of legal aid and assistance
