Immigration detention: should there be independent oversight?

30 October 2018

The Joint Committee on Human Rights will speak to academics, advocacy groups and representatives from the Independent Monitoring Boards and HM Inspectorate of Prisons in its first public session on immigration detention.

What the session will explore

The Committee will explore whether detention decisions are robust in the current system, or whether there is a need for judicial or independent oversight.
