Ukrainian Ambassador gives evidence on refugee crisis

The Home Affairs Committee takes evidence from Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, in a session examining the UK’s response to the Ukraine crisis. The Committee also hears from Enver Soloman, CEO of the Refugee Council and other stakeholders about the strengths and weaknesses of Home Office proposals for offering Ukrainians sanctuary in the UK.

It is estimated that around 1.5 million people have been displaced following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while reports suggest that the UK has issued around 300 visas so far. The session will examine the current situation for those fleeing the invasion and the impact of the UK’s current visa rules.
