Minister for Policing questioned on Home Office preparations for Brexit

The Home Affairs Committee hears from the Rt Hon Nick Hurd MP, Minister of State for Policing and Fire Service, and senior Home Office officials on the preparations the Home Office are making to ensure that UK policing and security capabilities are maintained in the event of the UK exiting the EU without a deal in March 2019.

Purpose of the session

The session is likely to cover:

  • The Government's progress in negotiations towards an ‘ambitious partnership' with the EU on security and policing cooperation
  • Current and future working arrangements with Europol and other European agencies
  • Data sharing and access to EU databases and information systems such as SIS II
  • Future extradition arrangements
  • Resources and funding to maintain and replicate EU security tools in the event of a no-deal
