Committee examines progress made since the Macpherson report

The Home Affairs Committee hears from Deputy Assistant Commissioner Duncan Ball, on the effectiveness of the Gangs Violence Matrix as a police intelligence tool and the extent to which it has impacted BAME communities; and, secondly, from the College of Policing, HMICFRS and IOPC who collectively play a key role in monitoring and promoting good practice in policing in England and Wales.

Purpose of the session
Today's meeting examines to what extent progress has been made since the Macpherson report, with a particular focus on:
- The Gangs Violence Matrix
- Ethnic diversity of the police workforce
- Ethnic disproportionality in police disciplinary and conduct proceedings
- Scrutiny, accountability, and promotion of good practice in policing across England and Wales
