Health and Social Care Committee to publish Expert Panel’s Report on Government commitments made in the area of Pharmacy in England

19 July 2023

The Health and Social Care Committee will publish a report by its Expert Panel evaluating Government progress against commitments made on Pharmacy in England at 12am on Tuesday 25 July 2023.

The Committee asked its independent Expert Panel to evaluate progress against pledges made by the Government in the area of pharmacy in England across nine commitments in five policy areas: community pharmacy; integrated care; hospital pharmacy; workforce education and training; extended services.

Key information

  • The Expert Panel is Chaired by Professor Dame Jane Dacre, Emeritus Professor of Medical Education at University College London, a consultant physician and rheumatologist, and a former President of the Royal College of Physicians.
  • The Health and Social Care Committee established the Expert Panel to conduct independent evaluations of Government commitments in areas of healthcare policy and enhance Committee scrutiny. Evaluations result in CQC-style ratings from “inadequate” to “outstanding” against specific pledges on a range of policy areas with a final overall rating given.
  • Members of the Committee are, separately from the Panel’s independent evaluation, examining pharmacy in an ongoing inquiry, launched in June.
