Purpose of the session

This session—the second on the Committee's inquiry into the Integrated Review—continues to hear perspectives from allied nations about how the FCO is viewed and valued abroad. This week it will hear an Australian, an Indian, and a European voice from three witnesses with a background as senior diplomats or politicians in their nations. The session will consider the FCO's strategies by assessing emerging international threats and how the UK should respond. It will also examine the strengths and weaknesses of the FCO's capabilities, and how these might be affected by technological change.
