The European Scrutiny Committee will hold an evidence session on the UK Government's renegotiation of EU membership: parliamentary sovereignty and scrutiny

Purpose of session

The purpose of this evidence session is to question the witnesses on:

  • the re-negotiation process
  • the nature of the legal commitments required in order to deliver an outcome that is legally binding and irreversible
  • the political and legal probability of delivering fundamental change in each of the Government's four areas of negotiation — sovereignty, fairness, free movement and competitiveness
