Committee examines report on the economics of biodiversity

The Environmental Audit Committee examines how the Government will respond to recommendations set out in Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta’s recent report on the economics of biodiversity.

- Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta, Frank Ramsey Professor Emeritus, University of Cambridge, Lead on HMT Economics of Biodiversity Review
Among the report recommendations, Sir Partha recommends that treasuries around the world need to change how they measure economic success and reform their financial institutions to account for nature. Further, he issued a call-to-action for governments to recognise that their economies are embedded in nature, and that decision making must reflect this.
The Committee’s report is expected to be published later in the Spring.
