Airports Commission's recommendations and VW air pollution scandal examined

On Wednesday 14 October the Committee looks at what the Airports Commission's recommendations would mean in terms of carbon emissions, air quality and noise.

Separately on Thursday 15 October the Committee questions representatives from VW and the motor industry about the air quality implications of the emissions testing scandal.

The second hearing will build on the work of the Transport Select Committee who examined the testing regime for new vehicles.

Huw Irranca-Davies MP, Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee:

"Toxic air pollution from traffic is contributing to thousands of deaths in the UK every year, so the cheating of car emissions tests is of grave concern. Questions remain about the impact of VW's actions on the UK's air quality and the Government's policy on cleaner transport."
