Ministers face questions over use of toxic chemicals in everyday life

The Environmental Audit Committee holds the final hearing of its inquiry into Toxic Chemicals in Everyday Life, which is examining how toxic chemicals are used in products, such as furniture, food and toys, current government regulation of these substances, and the environmental and human health problems associated with them.

Purpose of the session

MPs question Ministers Thérèse Coffey and Kelly Tolhurst and government bodies Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive on the delay to reform of the Furniture and Furnishings Regulations, the Government's proposals for chemicals policy after the UK leaves the EU and concerns about environmental contamination of the Grenfell Tower site.
