Ian Russell gives evidence to MPs and Peers on improving the Online Safety Bill

Ian Russell, the father of Molly Russell, will share his ideas for improving online safety with MPs and Peers this Monday 13 September. He is Chief Executive of the Molly Rose Foundation, a charity set up to connect young people who are suffering from depression or other mental illness that puts them at risk of suicide with support services. The charity was set up after Molly, his youngest daughter, died in November 2017.

Ian joins a host of expert witnesses who will give their views to the Joint Committee on the Online Safety Bill, chaired by Damian Collins MP. They include Izzy Wick, the Director of UK Policy at the 5Rights foundation, who specialises in child data protection and age-appropriate digital design and globally renowned disinformation specialist Nina Jankowicz. Joining them on the same panel is Matt Harrison, from the charity for rights for people with learning disabilities, The Royal Mencap Society and Clare Pelham, Chief Executive at the Epilepsy Society.

They will provide evidence of their research and experiences of online harms and provide ideas to improve the Bill and regulate social media.
