Committee Chair leads debate on the impact of the Protocol on politicial developments in Northern Ireland

The Chair of the House of Lords Sub-Committee on the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland, will lead a debate in the House of Lords on the impact of the Protocol, on Thursday 3 March 2022.

In the Question for Short Debate (QSD), Lord Jay of Ewelme will ask the Government “what assessment they have made of the impact of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland on recent political developments in Northern Ireland”. Lord Jay will also outline the recent work of the Protocol Committee in scrutinising the Protocol’s operation. Northern Ireland Office Minister Lord Caine will reply on behalf of the Government.

Several other members of the Committee will take part in the debate, as well as other members of the House with expertise on the Protocol and Northern Ireland affairs, including the former Brexit Minister, Lord Frost

The debate takes place from 3:00-4:00pm
