Minister addresses Environmental Land Management Scheme concerns

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee holds the final oral evidence session of its inquiry into Environmental Land Management and the Agricultural Transition.

Likely questions

In the first panel, the Committee will question Defra's arms-lengths bodies, exploring the lessons that can be learned from delivering previous farming and environmental schemes.

MPs will then put stakeholder's concerns to the Secretary of State, George Eustice, asking how Defra will address issues raised over the course of the inquiry including:

  • the impact of removing direct payments
  • engagement with stakeholders on the design
  • roll-out of ELM, and payment rates within the Sustainable Farming Incentive
