Public Sector Food Procurement inquiry hearing held by committee

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee is to hold its first oral evidence session as part of its inquiry into Public Sector Procurement of Food.

Purpose of the session

The session will focus on DEFRA's 2014 plan for public procurement and Government Buying Standards for Food and Catering including the requirements to meet animal welfare, nutrition and environmental sustainability standards. MPs will also explore how leaving the EU might lead to changes in UK domestic food procurement, and how future international trade deals may affect the quality of food served in the public sector.
