Fisheries and the UK's exit from the EU

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee is to hold a public evidence session with the fishing industry, in advance of the 1 July deadline for a fisheries agreement between the UK and the EU.

Purpose of the session

The session will focus on UK/ EU negotiations on fishing and trade, and the effect any deal may have on the UK fishing sector, as well as the sustainability of stocks and the consequences of a future agreement for coastal communities. The impact of COVID-19 on the fishing industry, including the effectiveness of measures introduced by the Government, will also be examined.

The session will build on the Committee's inquiry into Fisheries following UK exit from the EU in the last Parliament.
